The Capstone program is a convening of 1881’s undergraduate participants and companies to tackle real-world, multidisciplinary engineering problems. The program concludes with participants presenting their projects to industry professionals.

Let’s Take an Example from a Past Participant

An illustration of the 1881’s Capstone program can be exemplified by Adam Saleh, a college freshman in 1881’s 2019 program. As a result of Adam’s work with 1881, he was invited to pitch his work to Unity Technologies in California and was offered a summer internship in 2020. Adam declined the offer from Unity to work for a venture capital firm that invests in new products. At his internship, he was one of the few African Americans in venture capital and attributes his success to his work with 1881.
